چکیده

We present an investigation of velocity fields in early to late M-type hydrodynamic stellar atmosphere models. These velocities will be expressed in classical terms of microand macroturbulent velocities for usage in 1D spectral synthesis. The M-star model parameters range between logg of 3.0 – 5.0 and Teff of 2500 K – 4000 K. We characterize the Teffand logg-dependence of the hydrodynamical velocity fields in these models with a binning method, and for the determination of micro-turbulent velocities, the Curve of Growth method is used. The macro-turbulent velocities are obtained by convolutions with Gaussian profiles. Velocity fields in M-stars strongly depend on logg and Teff. Their velocity amplitudes increase with decreasing logg and increasing Teff. The 3D hydrodynamical and 1D macro-turbulent velocities range from ∼ 100 m/s for cool high gravity models to ∼ 800 m/s–1000 m/s for hot models or models with low logg. The micro-turbulent velocities range in the order of ∼ 100 m/s for cool models, to ∼ 600 m/s for hot or low logg models. Our M-star structure models are calculated with the 3D radiative-hydrodynamics (RHD) code CO5BOLD. The spectral synthesis on these models is performed with the line synthesis code LINFOR3D.

Chemical composition of halo and disk stars with overlapping metallicities

High resolution (R = 60 000), high S/N spectra have been obtained for 13 halo stars and 16 disk stars with 5400 <∼ Teff <∼ 6500 K, 4.0 <∼ logg <∼ 4.6 and overlapping metallicities in the range −1.3 <∼ [Fe/H] <∼ −0.5. Equivalent widths of weak Fe i and Fe ii lines are used to determine differential values of Teff and logg. Relative abundances of O, Na, Mg, Si, Ca, Ti, Cr, Fe, Ni, Y andBa are det...

Synthetic photometry from ATLAS9 models in the UBV Johnson system

Several grids of synthetic UBV color indices computed in the Johnson system and based on ATLAS9 atmospheric models are compared and discussed. We present synthetic colors which differ from those computed by Kurucz (1995) only for the convective models and for a very small shift of the zero-points. We compare these colors, called C97, with colors computed by Kurucz (1993a), Kurucz (1995) (K95), ...

The effect of variation of stellar dispersion velocities by the galactic latitude in interpreting gravitational microlensing observations

Our galaxy is a spiral galaxy and its stars are mostly in a thin disk and rotate around the galactic center. The vertical component of the dispersion velocity of stars is a function of the galactic latitude and decreases with increasing it. In the galactic Besancon model, this dependence is ignored and they just consider the dependence of dispersion velocity on the stellar age. Becanson model i...

Cygni , a second overtone field RR Lyrae star

We present the first (as of February, 1999) UBV and uvby photometric measurements for the short period variable star V2109 Cyg discovered by the Hipparcos satellite and classified as a field RRc variable. We have obtained new times of maxima and the period change has been studied. We determined the fundamental physical parameters using the geometric distance of the star and the most recent synt...

The Omegawhite Survey for Short-period Variable Stars - v. Discovery of an Ultracompact Hot Subdwarf Binary with a Compact Companion in a 44 Minute Orbit

We report the discovery of the ultracompact hot subdwarf (sdOB) binary OW J074106.0-294811.0 with an orbital period of Porb=44.66279±1.16×10 min, making it the most compact hot subdwarf binary known. Spectroscopic observations using the VLT, Gemini and Keck telescopes revealed a He-sdOB primary with an intermediate helium abundance, Teff =39400±500 K and logg =5.74± 0.09. High signal-to-noise r...
